Former NFL star and actor Rosey Grier is a humongous 300+ pound man, but he is commonly referred to as the “Gentle Giant”. As a professional speaker, he shares his spiritual insights and his message of our commitments in life.
Grier has excelled as a television personality, author, and pro football player with the New York Giants and Los Angeles Rams, earning All-Pro honors in 1957. Although he has earned countless awards in athletics, hit TV shows, movies and book publishing, his efforts today are turned toward helping others.
He is co-founder of American Neighborhood Enterprises and is chairman of the board for Impact Urban America. An activist and spokesman for the elderly and inner city youth, Grier is also the founder and director of Giant Steps, a federally funded program to give job training to disadvantaged youngsters and provide affordable housing for senior citizens. In 1984, he established the national headquarters of his nonprofit organization, "Are You Committed?", an effort geared toward developing educational and spiritual programs for young people from inner cities.
Grier is well known to the public for his role in subduing Sirhan Sirhan, convicted of assassinating Robert Kennedy. Grier tackled Sirhan after he shot the senator at the Embassy Hotel in Los Angeles in 1968.
